Spring News - National Library Week - Upcoming programs

Spring is here!  We are beginning to pick up from the "sleepy days of Winter" and see more activity in our libraries.  Here is some of our latest news:

National Library Week is coming up!

New Programs at Ellington Library:

This year, we are celebrating National Library week at Ellington Library by introducing some new events for all ages we hope to continue year-round.  Libraries are here to serve the community and we want to offer some fun, free opportunities for people in the area to enjoy. We will be offering the following events:

Storytime

Monday, April 8th at 10:00 am

In honor of the Eclipse today, we will do a sun and moon themed storytime.  Bring the kids and join us!

  • We will be doing a storytime on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 10:00am from now on. (If we are closed for a holiday on Monday, we will do storytime on Tuesday instead.)

Reflections

Wednesday, April 10th at 10:00am

A new gathering opportunity for older members of the county to gather and share stories and memories  (The intended age is 50 & up, but everyone is welcome)

  • We will meet the first Wednesday of the month at 10:00am from now on.

Book Club

Friday, April 12th  from 2:00pm-4:00pm

We want to give book lovers of all ages a chance to gather, read, discuss books, and look forward to a fun enjoyable evening.  Unlike classic book clubs, we won’t require you to read a certain book in a certain time frame…just bring a book or borrow one of ours, relax, and read in good company.  Can’t stay the whole time? That’s fine…leave early or come in late…the point of this gathering is to give our readers a chance to gather and share a love of reading.  (Snacks are welcome and we prefer drinks in a bottle or cup with a lid.)

  • We will meet the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month at 2:00-4:00pm from now on.

Here is a list of all other regularly scheduled programs at our Libraries:

Tiny Tot storytime at Bunker Library every Tuesday at 10:00am

Storytime at Centerville Library on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 2:00pm

Storytime at Lesterville Library on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 10:00am

Oates Library will do storytimes anytime kids/families visit.

As always, these events do not require a library card, any money,  or perfect attendance.

Come when you can.  Everyone is welcome.  Bring friends.   We hope to see you!

If anyone is interested in a storytime or other program, please reach out to us.  If you would love to attend but can't come during that day or time, let us know and when would work best for you.  We welcome all input from our communities and want to try to accommodate as many as possible.

We also welcome homeschool families and groups to visit our libraries, gather to socialize, or work on projects.  We have books, microscopes, and other resources at our libraries that may benefit you.  Contact your local library or visit anytime during business hours.

Are you Spring Cleaning?  We gladly take donations of clean, gently used books or DVD's.
